Sri Venkateswara temple, Vanatirupathi, Punnai Nagar.

About the temple
This beautiful temple is built by the owner of the famous hotel chain Saravana bhavan in their native place. The temple is getting popular among tourists going to Tiruchendur temple and the nearby Vaishnava Nava tirupathi temples. The temple is very neatly maintained with sannadhis of many popular deities and beautiful paintings of religious importance on the walls. There are two entrances -one of Srinivasar and another of Adinarayana perumal. The Lord looks stunning and one can have peaceful darshan without much crowd.

Sri Arunjunai Kaatha Ayyanar Kovil Temple (Sunai) (Melaputhukkudi)

When Tuticorin was under the control of British till Independence . All changes in Tuticorin had its own impact in Amman Puram also. At the end boundary of Ammanpuram there exists a Junai i.e. natural water spring pond and side by that there is Oor Kaval Deivam Arun Junai Katha Ayyanar. To say Ayyanar, may be the Palayakar person who would have saved the village Ammanpuram and the Junai from the foreign invaders and from their forceful religions conversion. In the course of operation or at the successful end of the operation ayyanar might have been died. In his name a statue would also have been raised. In course of time that place came to be noted Arun Junai Katha Ayyanar Kovil ( the temple of Ayyanar who have saved the beautiful pond)

The deity residing here is the Kuladeivam (family god) of a select few people (Nadar community) who have their origin in the surrounding areas. It has a traditionally everlasting water pond, and depends for water from papanasam dam. When the water is full in the pond it is a relish (rammiyam) to watch and swim. This place is surrounded by Thalampoo. If the priest (not a brahmin but Nadar) is advance informed of your arrival he would prepare Pongal (Sweetend boil rice) which is the prashadam. Some people also indulge in Keda Vettudal (Sacrifice of goat) during occasions. Temple is closed between 12-1. You need to have your own conveyance to reach the Temple. The necessary pujai saman should be purchased from Ammapettai on the main road. A must visit if you are visiting Trichendur.

even today that Junai is having perennial spring of water and that too clean and soft drinking water. Geologically also it is proved that the Junai is there for many centuries . No changing of its name and the everlasting permanency of its sacredness for the past 500 years exposes the unique character of the Junai.

Tamil film shooting has taken here.

Arulmigu Sri Mutharamman Kovil, Poochikadu

This is a tiny, sleepy village in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. Its greatness is its people, who are soft, hard working, innocent with great vision of their times. They are peace loving . Different groups live in peace and harmony.

Kovil Kodai function was performed as grand gala festive occasion for 3 days of every year July first week. The entire village participated wholeheartedly, with all people contributing to the rare admirable event in one or other way. People from far off places promptly reached and got the blessings of Mutharamman.  Our Goddess is quite true, attentive and indeed turn your life bright if you are a believer. Leave it to Her. She will take care.

You can also see one reddish desert in our village named as Therikadu, which is quit big and amazing location for new visitors.
